Window treatments can make a room look complete. They can also help to adjust lighting and maintain the room temperature. There are a number of window treatments available.

Basic window treatments:

Curtains – They are the most common window treatment for homes. Curtains come in different colors, styles and patterns. Curtains are hung on a rod or rings that are attached to a rod. Curtains can make a room look elegant and nice.

Drapes – Drapes are similar to curtains but are normally pleated and made of heavier fabric. They can be opened during the day and closed in the evening. Blackout drapes are the best options to maintain the room temperature.

Blinds – Blinds are useful to add privacy to the room whenever needed, as well as block out sunlight. Blinds are hung horizontally or vertically and adjusted by strings to monitor sunlight.

Shades – Shades control the amount of light in a room. They can accommodate a number of decorating ideas as it is available in different styles such as roman shades, balloon shades and cloud shades.

Valences – A valence is a type of window treatment that is mounted across the top of a window. They are versatile. Valences can be combined with drapes or curtains. They can be gathered bunches of fabric, pleated, arched wooden structures and so forth.

Cornices – Cornices are padded box shapes covered in fabric and paint. The edges can be shaped (scalloped, rounded or straight). They can help to hide existing hardware that is used to hang other window treatments.

Sheers – Sheers allow sunlight throughout the day and are perfect for use in the spring, summer and early fall. They are light weight and attractive. In the late fall and winter, they can be replaced with drapes or curtains. Contact Lanera Decorating for Window Treatments

I do appreciate it when you said that window blinds are the type of treatment needed if a person wants to add more privacy while limiting the sunlight at the same time. That is good to hear, especially since I have been planning to add window treatments in the bedroom for a while now. Since privacy is what my husband is after, and controlling light is my priority, I think this will work best for the both of us. Thank you for sharing.
